In thisstudy we want to identify and compare the variables that qualify the Burnout Syndrome that are presentamong professionals from an Emergency Unit in a hospital in the northwest region of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. It is aquantitative, analytical and descriptive study, involving 31 professionals. Data were collected using two questionnaires, thatwere analyzed through descriptive statistics. The scores of the three Burnout Syndrome dimensions: emotional waste,depersonalization, incompetence, indicate low Burnout level. Comparing the physicians team and the nursing, the first onehad a higher average on emotional waste than the second one. The syndrome symptoms could be evidenced on the variablespresented on the Work Context (quantitative), Work Overload, Careers Development and Organizational Structure.
