THE EXTORTION AND THE ROBBERY – THE COMPARISON OF CRIMES BASED ON ELEMENTS OF A PROHIBITED ACT INCLUDING JUDICIAL STATISTICS

Abstract

The article analyses the controversial issue of the differences occurring between the crimes of extortion and robbery. It refers to legal doctrine and jurisprudence, indicating numerous doubts appearing in this matter. An attempt is also made to set the boundaries between these crimes. The second part refers to court statistics illustrating the change in the incidence of extortion. In particular, it compares data regarding the number of such crimes initiated and ascertained with such data for the crime of robbery. In addition it indicates the number of legally ascertained crimes under Article 282 of the Criminal Code by the age and sex of the perpetrators.
