Modern transformational processes in the country have affected all spheres of society as a whole, including the ethnic culture of indigenous small peoples living on the periphery. The measures taken to regulate the livelihoods of small ethnic groups have not yet brought positive results. In connection with which there is a need to study the socio-cultural component of ethnic communities, which is the core of any culture. The article highlights some results of field research. The task of the study is to examine the current state of the components of traditional culture in locally located ethnic communities to manage their development. Purpose of the article: show the changes in sociocultural markers in the ethnic society, based on the principles of socio-cultural approach. The methodology of the study: The research is based on the methodology of the sociocultural approach, specific methods of sociological research were also used: questionnaires, interviews, unincorporated observation and analysis of statistical data. Results: According to the results of the field study, it can be said that the components (elements) of the ethnic culture, depending on external conditions, contain both traditional and innovative. And their volume varies depending on the relevance of time. In particular, the native language of small peoples is almost lost, nevertheless, its necessity is realized by the population, and attempts are being made to restore the language and other traditions. At the same time, such components as religion and self-identification are actualized by the population and are actively used in everyday life.
