LA ADOPCIÓN INTERNACIONAL: DOCUMENTOS ACREDITATIVOS DE LA PROPIEDAD DE BIENES INMUEBLES COMO PARTE INTEGRANTE DE UN EXPEDIENTE DE ADOPCIÓN Y SU PROBLEMÁTICA TRADUCTOLÓGICA

Abstract

This article reports on a hypothetical situation in which a translator must translate a Spanish intercountry adoption dossier. Legal translation is the translation of legal documents and terms from a source language into a target language. Moreover, it is also a translation from one legal system into another, adding a further difficulty to those already existing in translation: the terminological incongruence between different legal systems. In this article we describe the duties of sworn translators, we underline the importance of the legal context and we analyse the matching of legal terms as a prior step to the process of translation.
