Interdisciplinary approach to the choice of local anesthesia in patients with bronchial asthma (literature review)
Abstract
The article is devoted to the review of possible reactions to the use of sulfite-containing anesthetics and ways to detect and prevent allergic reactions in dental practice. About 7% of all people suffering from bronchial asthma have an increased sensitivity to sulfites. To date, the mechanisms that underlie susceptibility to sulfites remain unclear, although a number of potential mechanisms have been proposed, including genetic predisposition. Undoubtedly, optimal selection of a local anesthetic for patients with weighed allergic anamnesis will require adequate diagnosis of possible drug allergies, joint management of such patients by a dentist and an allergist.
