Uma Análise da Percepção do Tempo: um estudo de caso com vigilantes

The purpose of this article is to describe and analyze perceptions of time by vigilantes in according to the categories presented by Bluedorn and Jaussi (2007), which is: policronicity, speed, pontuality, depth and entrainment. These vigilantes working in an outsourcing company of private security services in Belo Horizonte (MG). The theoretical addressed the following themes: time and private surveillance service. Regarding the methodological approach, the field research was characterized as essentially descriptive and quantitative, and has applied the Scale of Perceived Temporal - EPT (Paiva et al, 2013a), which includes the categories of the theoretical model chosen. 101 questionnaires answered properly were collected and the data were tabulated and analyzed using descriptive statistics. Demographic data indicate most respondents were male, with low education and income, skin color brown and straight sexual orientation. As for his relationship with time, they adopt behaviors policronics and accelerated in view the diverse demands and responsibilities to which they are subjected. Overseers also demonstrated punctuality in meeting targets, timetables and mandatory training. A significant preference as to the temporal depth were not notice, however, the vast majority seems tied to the future. After analyzing the three processes of entrainment, ie, submission of personal time to others, it was noted that the vigilantes are strongly drawn and with greater relevance to subdimension 'leadership' (act before strong pace, that they is required). Due to the limitations of the study, it is suggested to conduct further research with other professional groups and meeting other issues of the time such as: identity, burnout, values and commitment.
