The artistic contribution of Julian Bream (1933) for guitar repertoire and performance standards still remains an important referential in global scale, both for artists and scholars. The interview here presented, given to Jim Ferguson, from 1990 is some years before his retirement, and is a overview of his work and thoughts. We gets as an evident topic, throughout the interview, an important topic for teaching’s debate: the connection between technique and musicality, and the interdependence between solution of technical problems and musical comprehension, which make the mark of an artist of excellence. And introduction and a recapitulation put in place his mains ideas and its consequences for guitar performance field.
