The Socialist International (social democrat) has created a Commission chaired by Joseph Stiglitz to propose solutions to the financial crisis based on four principles: justice, solidarity, balancing government and market, and democracy. This Commission has proposed an emergency plan. Thereafter, the Commission has made several suggestions, notably in relation to a progressive action plan in 2012 to reform international financial institutions, regulate the financial sector to counter speculation, increase competitiveness and growth, and to guaranty social security. This moderate program converge with the thinking of reknowned economists such as Amartya Sen and Paul Krugman.
