La voluntad en Duns Escoto Continuidad y ruptura con Aristóteles
Abstract
Duns Scotus contrasts the notions of nature and will, affirming its continuity with Aristotle (cf. Quaestiones super libros Metaphysicorum Aristotelis, IX, q. 15). However, the notion of will in Aristotle differs substantially from that of Scotus. While in Aristotle the will is defined as desire with respect to an intelligible object, in Scotus the will is defined as self-determination. The new characterization of the will by Scotus has as its precedents the doctrines of the will in Augustine of Hippo, Anselm of Canterbury and especially in Peter John Olivi
