Applicability of soft-hard technologies as a strategy for elderly caregivers: experience report

Abstract

Objective: To report the experience of the applicability of soft-hard technologies as an educational strategy for caregivers of the elderly. Methods: Report of experience of extension activity on the theme “Comfort, sleep and hygiene in the elderly”, carried out with caregivers of the elderly in a long-term care facility in the interior of Piauí, in June 2018, by nursing students from the Federal University of Piaui. As educational material, a lighthard technology was used: dice game with questions about the theme, applied after explanation of content by academics. Results: The caregivers presented superficial knowledge about the theme, pointing different questions, mainly about biosafety. The use of the game favored the acceptance of the educational activity and the interaction of the caregivers with the extensionists. Conclusion: Educational activities in health institutions are important for the improvement of people involved in care. The use of innovative technologies facilitates the acceptance and adherence of content.
