The objective of this work is to recover the reflection of Anísio Teixeira on the modern society, seen by him as the one that is in constant dynamism, and also consider his proposal of school that meets the needs of this society. The pertinence of the theme is very current and it seems relevant to highlight the pedagogical proposal of this Brazilian thinker, since the Brazilian school still demonstrates that it is not yet able to deal with all this social dynamism brought about by scientific and technological evolution, industrialization and the popularization of democracy. The Brazilian school still seems to be fall short of many of the progressive ideals thought by Teixeira. That New School is called progressive because it needs to be constantly rethought, it needs to be open to the continually changing society. The scientific development that is constantly renewed carries with it the need of the constant reconstruction of society and of the school, since the educational processes are gaining new meanings and new configurations. However, today's Brazilian school is different from the days of Teixeira's school and brings with it new necessities and challenges to be considered as social foundations.
