Kyriakos Haralambidis’ collection of poetry Kydonion Milon concludes with four rhyming couplets, which are suggestive of the Cretan mantinades. Food is the pretext used by the poet to speak about his conception. It must therefore be noted that Cornaros’ intrusion functions as the persona of the Cypriot poet. The poet essentially invents “a popular feast with love and table songs where a feast of words is also conducive”.
