The ethyl acetate extract of fungus comb was investigated for its potential as an α-glucosidase enzyme inhibition agent. The extract was evaluated using bioassay methods to determine its IC50 values against enzyme activity, alongside phytochemical screening to identify active compounds. The optimal concentration of α-glucosidase enzyme was determined to be 0.06 U/mL. Results indicated that the extract and its fractions exhibited α-glucosidase enzyme inhibition activity, albeit with IC50 values higher than the positive control, acarbose. Fractions containing phenol-hydroquinone showed the most vigorous activity, while fractions containing saponins displayed varied activities, possibly due to contaminants interfering with enzyme interactions. This study highlights the potential of the fungus comb extract as a promising source for developing antidiabetic agents.
