In recent years, heavy metals from industrial effluents are the most serious pollutants of the environment and creates public health problem. These heavy metals are highly toxic to the aquatic biodiversity and the drinking water containing this heavy metal possesses severe health hazards in humans. Hence, there is an urgent need to remove their heavy metals by suitable economical method. In this investigation the adsorption treatment of simulated waste water containing heavy metals using Rice Husk Activated Carbon (RHAC) and its Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) Composite (PVP / RHAC) is studied. The performance analysis was carried out as a function of various operating parameters such as initial concentration of metal ion, adsorbent dosage, contact time and pH. Performance analysis revealed that there is a significant percentage removal of metal was achievable by this method. Also Langmuir and Freundlich models were used to analyses the adsorption equilibrium.
