Disappeared Nov. 10, 2008, on the eve of its centenary, Giu Cung Nguyen was the last survivor of the four major writers of the French literature of the early twentieth century—Pierre Do Dinh, Pham Duy Khiem and Pham Van Ky—who despite their double culture, were, to varying degrees, most hybrids, literary nomads, than conveyors. However Giu Cung Nguyen has enriched the cultural dialogue between France and Vietnam not only in literature but also in the economic and social field. A major figure of the Vietnamese Scouting, inspired by the French model, he created and animated with Raoul Serène, Les Cahiers de la jeunesse, journal inspired by personalist philosophy, which brings together Vietnamese intellectuals francophone and French open to dialogue.
