When the war of independence in 1857 against British imperialism had failed and when the Muslims were unstable both economically and educationally, the Britishers were very pleased. At that time, Allah Almighty sent down two schools of thought: one promoted modern education at Aligarh while the other reawakened the spirit of getting ancient learnings of Deoband. They also played a great role in the creation of Pakistan. These institutes produced many intellectuals and scholars who served in these institutes. One of them was Yusaf Banori who belonged to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He founded a religious institution in Karachi. Thus, the whole vicinity is famous after its name as Banori Town. Scholars of all schools of thought were greatly impressed by his personality. This is the reason that he was unanimously appointed as president of 'The Assembly to Protect the Finality of Prophethood” (Majilis-e-Khatam-e-Nabuwat). With his religious insight, he was successful to make the then Prime Minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto declare the Qadianis Non-Muslim in the General Assembly by running a nonviolent movement. Therefore, the Qadianis were declared as Non-Muslim minority in 1973 as a result of his movement on a national level. Besides, he had been an author of so many books. Many of those books were published by Jaamia Azuhar, Cairo Egypt. He died on the 17th of October, 1977 and buried in his Madrassa.
