A manifestação da alteridade no discurso colonialista português e no ensino liceal : (1954-1974)
Abstract
This article's purpose is to analyse the manifestation of alterity within the Portuguese colonialist speech through a more problematized and theoretical perspective. Apart from the general colonialist thinking, we will analyse in more depth the manifestation of alterity in the context of secondary school. With that purpose in mind, our analysis will focus on the new curricular programs for the secondary school of 1954 and of the school manuals published after that date and until the fall of the "Estado Novo". Here we will analyse the speech for the maintenance of the Portuguese empire, through a domination perspective, not restricting it though to that view. Despite legitimating a relation of dominance, the speech relates directly with the construction of a world view, identities and memory. It will be through that perspective that the dynamics of alterity in colonialist speech and in the school of the "Estado Novo" will be analysed.
