Ukrainian publishing, as an important component of the nation cultural life, during the twentieth century, couldnot develop freely in its native lands, and was forced to overcome numerous obstacles for the sake of its establishing.Relevance of the topic is due to the need to update the contribution of Ivan Tyktor in the development of Ukrainianpublishing and the publication of printed materials from the fund of the Department of Foreign Ukrainistics, releasedby his Publishing Houses. The purpose of the article is to reveal the book and content characteristics of the editionsedited and published by I. Tyktor's publishing houses. The implemented research methods are the biographicalmethod, the principle of historicism, objective and comparative analysis of selected documents from the VNLU funds.The principle of historicism provided an in-depth consideration of the study subject, helped to determine the placeand role of I. Tyktor's figure in the development of Ukrainian book publishing in the context of specific historicaltimes and conditions (state and political, economic, psychological, social). Due to the use of methods of analysis andsynthesis, both bibliographic and documentary, it was possible to analyze the external and internal characteristics ofpublications, to define their features, the relevance of the books' content to the chosen topic. Presenting the mostimportant materials of the study, the identity of the publisher in the context of difficult conditions of statelessnessin Ukraine and during the immigration are studied. The publishing work of Ivan Tyktor during 1923-1977 as one ofthe most powerful representatives of the Ukrainian press and book publishing movement of the XX century is studied.Different periods of his activity (Lviv, Krakow, Rivne, Innsbruck, Winnipeg) are analyzed, the availabe productsof I. Tyktor's publishing houses in the fund of the Foreign Ukrainistics Department of the Bibliology Institute of theV. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine (FUD BI VNLU) are made public. Attention is given to the content andbook characteristics of publications that were published in exile, particularly, in Canada. The sources of financing ofI. Tyktor's publishing activity are discovered. The conclusions state that the documents from I. Tyktor's publishinghouses make it possible not only to analyze the book characteristics of the publications, but also to trace the life ofthis publishing movement activist. It is emphasized that the produced materials of Ivan Tyktor`s publishing housesconclude the significant contribution to the history of Ukrainian book publishing, Ukrainian culture and bibliology.
