BELÉM (PA): contradições sociais do e no planejamento urbano
Abstract
The present text is the result of research and extension carried out within the framework of the Research Group on Urban Policies and Social Movements in the Globalized Amazon, aiming at reflecting on urban planning and its relationship with emerging social forces in the Tucunduba, Una and Estrada Nova hydrographic basins. The methodological course was based on critical social theory, which subsidized the analysis of the technocratic and market-oriented planning processes, as well as on the social movements' action in front of the urban interventions in Belém. It was concluded that although in the official discourse such projects as technical solutions to the demands of the population to improve the conditions of housing and sanitation, we observe the deepening of the segregative effects that capitalism produces in cities.
