Due to the tropical conditions in the country, which are predominant in most of its territory, with an average temperature of 24 ° C, air conditioners have become a necessity in most buildings, with the consequences of a significant increase in electricity consumption and worsening environmental problems. This paper describes the study on Energy Efficiency (EE) in air conditioners in classrooms located in an institution of higher education, in order to reduce costs and contribute to the environment through good use practices and an analysis technique of the existing equipment. Thus, this work is important since you can prove that EE projects in existing buildings can significantly improve energy savings, along with a short-term paypack . The study contributes by affirming that good projective practices in EE may have a promising result. The results of this study confirmed a payback of 7 years and 3 months, with the replacement of the existing air conditioners and inefficient BTU for most rooms by reverse-type models, as with the correct calculation for BTU them.
