Deep renovation is the term coined by the Energy Efficiency Directive of the EC (2012/27) for defining economically advantageous building renovation interventions that make possible the reduction of the energy consumption of a building by at least 60% compared to the condition prior to the refurbishment. In this field, the P2ENDURE research project, funded by the European Union under H2020 programme, is aimed at developing refurbishment strategies, functional transformation and improvement of the energy performance of existing buildings based on the use of Plug-and-Play technologies and components tested on 10 case studies according to a procedure called 4M (Mapping/Modelling/Making/Monitoring).
