The author focuses on the relevance of the study of leadership as a social phenomenon. Indeed worthy leaders who can ask the right direction, to ensure collective activities, to encourage people with full capacity to work, are always necessary in all spheres of society life. The author emphasizes the necessity of accounting the leader of the three types of human needs that exist in any social organization, the structure or the state in general. First, the wording of common purpose and plan of action. Secondly, promoting team spirit. Third, consideration of interests of each. These requirements should not be treated separately, because in many ways they intersect, causing sometimes positive and sometimes negative effects. During the lighting of the main aspects of the studied issue is the author makes the conclusion that a true leader must possess the knowledge and authority. But this is not enough. It is impossible to name any leaders outstanding, until the action of it has had a positive impact on the development of one or another organization, the nation or the state in general. Yet, despite the fact that the path to leadership is open to all, a worthy leader can be not everyone. Aspiring to power, many people do not want to take important decisions, do not have sufficient elevation of the spirit, do not believe in themselves and others. Therefore, as often happens, in a high position, many never can indestructible move to their goals, to implement certain tasks or to gain the support of a wide range of people.
