Characteristics of thermal environment influenced by the opening and closing of a subway train sliding door

The demand for a comfortable and healthy thermal environment must be considered while optimizing the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HAVC) system. Therefore, this study investigated the characteristics of the thermal environment influenced by the opening and closing of a sliding door in a subway train. During a stable condition, the indoor temperature at the supply-air outlet was clearly less than other areas. Except for the supply-air outlet and the return-air inlet, the air velocity remained stable at approximately 0.35 m/s. During the opening of the sliding door, the low-temperature area distributed at the side of the sliding door increased along with the increase of opening time. The average air velocity increased along with the increase of height of the passenger car because of the presence of the return-air inlet. The average temperature of passenger car linearly increased along with the increase in station temperature. The time for returning to stability increased along with the increase of the opening time. High station temperature decreased the time for returning to stability. The purpose of this paper is to provide useful guidance for stakeholders involved in improving the competitiveness of the subway train.
