Effect of different rootstocks on polyphenol content in cv. 'Lapins' phloem
Abstract
The influence of various rootstocks for cherries (F 12/1, Gisela 4, Gisela 5, Gisela 195/20, Maxma 14, Pi-Ku 4/20, Edabriz, W 13, W 72 and W 158) on the polyphenol sample of cv. 'Lapins' in the phloem above the graft union was analysed. The differences in the content of polyphenols prove that the rootstocks influence the whole metabolisms of a grafted plant. Higher values of epicatechin, eriodictyol 7-glucoside, genistein, prunin, p-coumaric acid and dihydrowogonin 7-glucoside above the graft union in the heterogenetic graftings were found when compared to the homogenetic one (cv. 'Lapins'/F 12/1). Higher values of some metabolites in the phloem of heterogenetic graftings indicate that there is always a certain level of stress present.
