The transverse magneto-optical Kerr effects (T-MOKEs) and sensing performance in a magneto-optical surface plasmon resonance (MOSPR) structure comprising a nanoporous gold/Co6Ag94 bilayer with a square-subwavelength period on a gold slab are theoretically investigated. Benefiting from the excitation of the surface plasmon resonance by optimizing the related parameters of the proposed MOSPR structure, we obtain a magnified T-MOKE signal with a high sensing performance in a gas environment. In this system, a sharp Fano-like T-MOKE spectrum with a narrow linewidth and a high amplitude is achieved. This strategy is important for obtaining new classes of detectors for monitoring air quality.
