The Years of “La Transición” in the Vicente Castellano Paint (1973-1978)
Abstract
The article deals with the series of paintings that the valencian painter Vicente Castellano Giner (Valencia 1927-2014) developed between 1973 and 1980. His production in these years can be divided into three blocks. The first one, El artista diezmado. Homenaje a Lorca (1973-1975), then, Éxodos series (1976-1978) and finally the work Amanecer (1978). Throughout his paintings he can be seen as the artist transmutes the fluctuation of these years with an innovative poetic. His paintings, between figuration and abstraction, full of textures, densities, colors and shapes, show a kind of materials that expanded on the canvases. This materials display a suggestive sensations that bring the viewer to the most tangential side of emotions.
