Abstract

Sunscreens importantly contribute to photoprotection. Their efficacy in reducing photocarcinogenesis and photoaging is widely documented. Although there are concerns regarding longterm sunscreen safety, their advantages greatly outweigh potential risks. The review article presents a UV-induced skin damage prevention strategy, characteristics and safety of UV filters, andnew technological improvements of sunscreens.
