Juan Antonio Olavarrieta, un fraile con vocación de periodista ilustrado
Abstract
The friar Juan Antonio Olavarrieta during his complex live developed a self-liberation process centered in his journalist role. In this paper Semanario Crítico (Lima, 1791) and Diario de Cádiz (1796) will be analyzed; with those journals Olavarrieta got the necessary skill to stamp his Diario Gaditano (1820-1822) in the Trienio Liberal. The controversies occurred with the rival publications will be treated here in order to show some aspects of this friar’s biography, who became a journalist.
