Chronic noncommunicable disease and quality of life. Narrative review
Abstract
Objective: To determine the current evidence regarding chronic non-communicable disease, quality of life, perceived health in the elderly and its relation between them. Methods: Narrative review including specialized data on health issues: Medline via PubMed, LILACS, CINHAL and The Cochrane Library. Scientific articles with an obsolescence no more than seven years in any language and have full download with free access were included. In databases that allowed was used to search a descriptor filter in order to retrieve scientific publications (DeCS and MeSH) and as limits: Humans. Results: The findings were organized in three main areas that describe key aspects for a better understanding and contextualization of chronic disease in the elderly, which goes beyond the clinical aspects and relates its effect on health perception, perception disease and quality of life of the sufferer. Conclusions: The review allows fully dimensioned representing the presence of one or more of a chronic disease in the elderly, showing that an increasing number of chronic diseases have a strong effect on the quality of life and perception of health and disease in the elderly.
