Peculiarities of the use of the cold recycling method for the restoration of asphalt concrete pavements

An effective solution to the problems of saving costs and resources in road construction and road repair is the reuse of the road surface. The granulometric composition and physical and mechanical properties of asphalt granulate were determined, the properties of the bitumen emulsion were defined, the physicomechanical and operational characteristics of the selected asphalt granule concrete composition were considered. The research has shown that the physicomechanical parameters of the asphalt granule concrete samples with the addition of fiber from fly ash from thermal power plants rise with time due to an increase in the adhesion of the binder to the mineral material. The use of fiber increases the strength characteristics of the samples, as well as provides improved adhesion and acceleration of the hardening processes, which allows, when using the cold recycling method, to reduce the waiting time for opening to traffic and is a solution to an urgent problem.
