Highlights NRXN1 depletion induced anxiety-like behaviors and abnormal social phenotypes in rats. Knockdown of NRXN1 impaired neurite outgrowth in primary neurons. Downregulation of NRXN1 might downregulate the proteins associated with cell morphology and membrane structure
