Evaluation of urban upgrading approaches in heritage areas

Abstract

This study contains a review of the different approaches that dealt with the heritage areas and how to improve them. The study begins with an explanation of the scope of the heritage and all their problems, linking these problems to a different approach, and how to deal with each area, and how to estimate each program. The development of heritage fields and the preservation of their architectural and historical content requires an infrastructure of legal and administrative approaches, policies and strategies to ensure the success of development projects and to benefit from successful experiences in different countries. The study also shows the active role of maintaining development programs, reflecting political, economic and social conditions, and the lack of local laws. Then an analys of the development of the current approaches follows, the study also deals with criticism and analysis methods to make some recommendations to develop methods of evolution, this study also focuses on some experiments in the development of heritage areas. These experiments were chosen because they were known as a rich urban heritage, because they are ancient heritage areas, and the country started developing them by creating international competitions and spending huge budgets to develop them, and they are one of the most important projects today, and they are considered as one of the most important projects currently as the state gives them great importance , and international experience was used as a reference for Egyptian experiences and they are compared to be able to reach standards And results and recommendations that greatly help in the development of Egyptian experiences, in which problems that the region is exposed to and how to deal with them will be studied, and these experiences will be analyzed in order to reach their success factors and derive criteria on the basis of which similar projects in Arab countries can be evaluated, and discuss the importance of studying and analyzing these experiences. In order to reach more appropriate solutions for the heritage areas, and thus there will be an opportunity to review and evaluate the upgrading approaches through these experiences
