Family planning usage status in women aged 15-49 and the affecting factors: example of kahramanmaras province
Abstract
Family planning and education have an important role in reducing maternal and infant mortality, healthy and controlled pregnancy, postpartum maternal and infant health. This study is aimed to examine knowledge and usage of status at reproductive womens. This study is descriptive cross-sectional type. This study population is counducted about family planning methods that admitted to health instituations women aged 15-49 in Kahramanmaras. 1000 women is included without sampling methods. A questionnaire was administered to the women about their socio-demographic characteristics and family planning prepared by the researchers. Data were analyzed by the program of SPSS 19.0 and evaluated by descriptive statistics, and either the Chi-square was used to determine the statistical differences between categorical variables. According to results of the analysis %84,2 of women reported that they prefer at least one family planning method. With aging the rate of using contraceptive methods also increased significantly (p=0.001). Although not statistically significant it was determined that with higher education level the use of contraceptive methods also increased. It has been shown that the women participating in the survey began using the contraceptive methods after their second child. At the same time, as the number of births in women increased the rate of using contraceptive methods also increased significantly (p=0.000). [Med-Science 2017; 6(3.000): 431-5]
