Surgical treatment of patients with stress urine incontinence is being carried out for over 130 year. Of particular interest is the implantation of tension-free sub-urethral synthetic sling (tension-free vaginal tape procedure – TVT) which is notable for its low rate of lower urinary tract injuries and high clinical effectiveness. The preoperative assessmentand postoperative care play an important role in tissue healing and patients’ fast recovery after surgery. This study aims at evaluation of the effectiveness of preoperative assessment and postoperative care in women with stress urine incontinence. Forty female patients suffering from stress urine incontinence and history of recurrent vulvovaginal candidiadis were examined and subjected to the TVT procedure. The postoperative follow-up period was between 1 and 3 months. Based on the results of patient questioning, good result was obtained in 40 (100%) patients at 3 monthspost-operation. Bacterioscopy of vaginal smears from patients treated with Livarol in the postoperative period did not reveal the presence of Candida fungi at 1 or 3 months post-operation. Therefore, the successful surgical intervention mainly depends of careful selection of patients and the performance of a technically perfect surgical operation. Proper vaginal sanitation measures and postoperative wound management will secure fast patients’ recovery and reduction of their inpatient stay.
