The objective of this research is to demonstrate that there are individual and sociocultural factors that affect a woman’s risk of experiencing physical, psychological and/or sexual violence in the mdc at some point in her life. To do this, the databases available in the Demographic and Health Surveys in Honduras (endesa ) for the periods 2011-2012 and 2019 were analyzed. It is a mixed type of study (qualitative-quantitative), in which statistical data were used to test the hypothesis and life testimonies of women survivors of violence were included to highlight some of their life experiences. In addition, two binary logistic regression models were used to demonstrate the probability associated with the analyzed risk factors. Among the main findings, it was found, first, that they are individual risk factors for physical, psy- chological or sexual violence in the mdc if a woman’s partner consumes alcoholic beverages, if the wo- man’s father beat her mother, and if the woman began sexual relations at an early age. Secondly, among the sociocultural risk factors, the inability to decide about having sexual relations with the husband was found, justifying for one or more reasons that the husband beats the wife, and having experienced dis- crimination for gender reasons in the town. Finally, a public policy for the prevention of violence against women that takes into consideration the risk factors of violence is proposed as an alternative approach.
