Une lecture politique des Col·loquis de la insigne ciutat de Tortosa (1557) de Cristòfol Despuig
Abstract
This paper offers a political reading of the Col·loquis de la insigne ciutat de Tortosa (1557), by the Catalan author Cristòfol Despuig. It is dedicated to a study of some of the political and historical themes, especially the Civil War between John II of Aragon and the Generalitat de Catalunya at the end of the fifteenth century, as well as the quarrel between king Philip II of Spain and pope Paul IV about the Italian territories of the Spanish monarchy in the sixteenth century. The paper studies the representation of the king figure, the war, the law and the relationship between the king and the realm.
