An alternative total synthesis of Greensporone C

Abstract

A simple and efficient stereo selective synthesis of 14-membered Benzannulated macrolactone, Greensporone C has been accomplished in 6.2% overall yield from inexpensive and commercially available starting materials. This convergent synthesis employs Sharpless asymmetric dihydroxylation, Wittig olefination and Yamaguchi macrolactonization as the key steps.
