The study aims to propose and test a theoretical model that investigates the relationship between social capital, knowledge sharing and individual work performance in public sector. The survey was carried out to collect data using convenience sampling. This research collected 298 valid responses from officials who have been working at 18 departments, agencies in Tien Giang province. A structural equation modeling procedure was used to verify the proposed hypotheses. Our findings revealed that all three dimensions of social capital (structural, cognitive and relational dimensions) facilitate both tacit and explicit knowledge sharing. In addition, both explicit and tacit knowledge sharing practices influence individual work performance. We suggest some policies to Tien Giang public sector leaders as to how employees should achieve better performance by promoting social capital and knowledge sharing.
