Translation and mediation: the dispersed works of Gilberto Owen
Abstract
Most members of the “grupo sin grupo”, best known as Contemporáneos, practiced translation as a function of their polygraphic inclinations. In this sense, Gilberto Owen was a profuse translator of English and French invarious publications of Mexico and Colombia. In this article, as a contributionto the biography and criticism about the author of Línea, I study the translationsthat Owen published through his life, including three that are unknown.Sixty years after the publication of Poesía y prosa (1953), I consider that theproduction of Owen is constantly growing and these translations prove it.
