Abstract

The paper concentrates on the issue of classifica-tion of empirical probability distributions (histograms), whichis useful both in management situations and in event detectionor event mining. While existing approaches to event detectionconcentrate on the use of selected moments or other character-istics of empirical probability distributions, we postulate thatfull empirical distribution preserves more of needed informa-tion then selected moments of this distribution, thus multiplecriteria classification of distributions can be most effective inevent detection.
