GAGAUZ TURKS IN THE LIGHT OF SALTIK-NÂME AND SELÇUK-NÂME

Oguz Turkic-speaking Gagauz population of Turks about 300 thousand. Most of them have been living in Moldovia, Bulgaria and Ukraine. Problem of how they have gone Moldovia, Bulgaria and Ukraine is still a dilemma for scholars. However, there have been lots of unsolved problem in this topic. The most important material about history of Gagauz Turks is Selçuk-nâme also known as Tevârih-i Âl-i Selçuk, Târih-i Âl-i Selçuk and Oğuz-nâme written in Turkish by Yazıcıoğlu Ali in 1436. Another important material in this discipline is Saltık-nâme had reduced to writing to Ebü'l Hayr-ı Rûmî between 1473-1480. In this article in the light of Tevârih-i Âl-i Selçuk, Târih-i Âl-i Selçuk, Saltık-nâme and other materials written in XV. century, Gagauz Turks' history, culture and language has discussed.
