For calibrating torque measuring devices (TMDs) precisely, deadweight torque standard machine (DWTSM) has been developed and used all over the world. The DWTSM involves a technique that has been established as a torque generation method with the highest accuracy. In the evaluation of a TMD using DWTSM, even the TMD, whose purpose is to measure the dynamic torque, can only be evaluated statically. There is no method to guarantee the result of measuring dynamic torque by TMD calibrated statically. Therefore, it is desired to develop a method for dynamically calibrating TMD. In order to solve this problem, we designed and are developing a dynamic torque generating machine based on the principle of the Kibble balance, that is, torque generation using electromagnetic force. In this paper, we explain the design of the dynamic torque generating machine using the rotational Kibble balance principle.
