Vampirizing With AI, Resignifying Images
Abstract
This audiovisual essay is based on two approaches, on the one hand, the strategy of cinematographic appropriation and deconstruction used in Vampir-Cuadecuc (Pere Portabella, 1970), an icon of Spanish experimental cinema during the late Franco era, and, on the other hand, the keyframe manipulation with generative AI by taking a critical look at the trained models used. The combination of both elements, unpublished material produced during the research of the vAImpir digital environments project, opens an unexpected narrative in the convergence of AI production mechanisms and new contemporary stories of appropriation.
