Archaeological Micro-regions of the Ananyino hillforts in the Udmurt Kama Region
Abstract
The study of the settlement features of the Ananyino cultural and historical area has been made for a separate section of the Lower Kama region (right bank), considering the GIS- data of archaeological sites, the degree of the territory study, landscape situation, taking into account the theory of potential resource areas around sites. The author asserts that settling the territory during the early Ananyino time was realized along the low sections of the Kama valley. In the middle of the 1st millennium BC the number of settlement sites sharply increased, their structure and relief location changed. Hillforts were becoming centers of archaeological micro-regions. Spatial placing analysis of settlements within the micro-regions allows the author to claim about different types of economic strategies of social groups which were determined by the enclosing landscape and not yet obvious social order state.
