The article presents data on the study of the nature of endoscopic changes of gastric mucosa in patients with atrophic gastritis with varying severity of structural damage. It is shown that endoscopic manifestations of atrophic gastritis are heterogeneous and are characterized, in addition to atrophic changes, by changes in mucosal relief (nodularity, tuberosity), focal hyperplasia, polyps, xanthomas. These changes correlate with the presence of intestinal metaplasia and dysplasia of the gastric mucosa. Incidence of atrophic-hyperplastic gastritis is significantly higher in patients with precancerous changes of the gastric mucosa. It is shown that the use of anti-foaming agent simethicone improves diagnostic efficiency of EGDS, helping to identify premalignant disease and gastric cancer.
