It is true that “Purananooru” is the treasure of the life of the ancient Tamils. The cults that started worshipping natural objects began to develop into religious cults. Among the cults of the time, there are Saiva, Vedic religions and other religions which are considered to be different from the ancient religion. Deities like Shiva, Balarama, Kannan, Murugan and Maveerar Nadukal (Stonehenge) are also worshipped in Tamil culture. A song mentions the name Murugan. A hymn also states that there are no deities worshipped other than Nadugal in Tamil ancient culture. Vedic rituals and offerings and vegetarian food for the Devas are mentioned. There is a custom of worshipping the Maveerar Nadukal for victory in war. At that time, there was no cult of worshipping Koravai. The system of Vedic worship has penetrated Tamil Nadu since ancient times. The names of the gods' Shiva, Balarama, Kannan and Thirumal do not appear in Purananooru. The name Anangu is mentioned as a generic name referring to deities. It is also noted that the Kuravas have prayed to God for rain. Hence, the paper details the Gods, Deities and the worshipping methods in “Purananooru”.
