Exploration Empirique des Facteurs Impactant la Croissance Infantile
Abstract
The aim of this study is to identify factors associated with stunting, wasting, underweight and overweight in children aged under 5 in Senegal. For this purpose, we estimate a multivariate Probit model with the help of the Demographic and Health Survey database (EDS, 2019). The results show that child size at birth, duration of breastfeeding, diarrhea, fever, household wealth index, household ecological zone, number of prenatal visits, occupation and mother's education level are significantly associated with stunting, wasting, underweight and overweight in children aged under 5 in Senegal. This study suggests that to effectively combat malnutrition among children in Senegal, it would be best to develop strategies based on the influence of these factors.
