Acute non-variceal gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding is a common and potentially life-threatening condition encountered in clinical practice. Transcatheter arterial embolization (TAE) has emerged as a widely accepted and effective therapeutic option for managing both upper and lower GI bleeding. This review summarizes the characteristics, mechanisms of action, and clinical considerations of various embolic materials utilized in TAE for GI bleeding. Understanding the properties and appropriate application of these embolic materials is crucial for achieving successful hemostasis and minimizing complications during the treatment of acute non-variceal GI bleeding.
