Gear Rattle Elimination Control of a Power-split Hybrid Electric Car

Due to the manufacturing process and technical conditions limit in engineering,there has never been very good solution to the problem of gear rattle. Based on analyzing the structure and working principle of the novel compound power-split device,combined with the gear rattle mechanism,a control method for weakened against the gear rattle of the system is proposed. Firstly,the two driven wheel gear tapping torque area corresponding to the certain state of engine is obtained by calibration,controlling the two motors to avoid driven wheel running in the area through the kinematics relationship of system on the basis of does not affect the driving intention and fuel consumption. The simulation model of the vehicle and control is established,the simulation shows that the strategy can achieve the desired effect and only has very small influence on the vehicle after increase the strategy. The real vehicle experiment results which use the speech intelligibility evaluation show that the control strategy can weaken the gear rattle and improve the vehicle ride comfort greatly.
