Tracking the Optimal Point of a Photovoltaic Module (PVM) by Fuzzy Logic controlling a DC / DC converter
Abstract
Through this present work, in order to control the operation of a photovoltaic module (PVM), we consider the solution of optimal point tracking by fuzzy logic. The operating point of a load connected to the terminals of a photovoltaic module does not always coincide with that of the optimum point. We will determine a control method suitable for operating the PVM at its optimum operating point. We will study fuzzy logic as a control tool; we will treat the effect of sunshine on the I (V) characteristics, and then compare it with a classical tracking method, We will describe the system made up of a photovoltaic source; a DC / DC buck converter and a resistive load. We will show the implementation of the fuzzy controller and then move on to interpreting the practical results provided. The obtained experimental results confirm the utility of the fuzzy controller for the optimization of the system.
